Yesterday in a live video Meg the Stallion took to Instagram to discuss the disdain she currently has for her label.
Meg Says She’s Self-Made
She started the video by letting everyone know that she is signed to both 1501 as well as 300. Both being independent labels. She further let her audience know that being that she is signed to two independent labels, that makes her an I N D E P E N D E N T artists. She made had no issues with letting The Gram know that she does “independent sh!t” because she’s independent. She took pride in letting everyone know that Meg the Stallion is self-made and has been putting in work before she signed. She gave props to her mother for always being in her corner. Like Mia X once said, “before the fame, the big names and the money, I was at the bus stop with you, honey!” That’s basically how Meg the Stallion described her mother.
Meg cleared up for many people that thought she was signed to Roc Nation, that they are only her management company. She was very transparent in letting everyone know that she was only 19 when she signed to 1501. he said that she didn’t know what she was signing when she signed her contract.
Leveling Up
When she got to Roc Nation, she says she had “real attorneys.” These attorneys were able to advise and make her aware of several things in her contract that she hadn’t been privy to beforehand.
Meg stated that because she felt as if she and 1501 were like a family. All she had to do was ask them to renegotiate her contract. However, it wasn’t as simple as she thought. Meg claims that once she asked to renegotiate her contract, she was told by 1501 that she couldn’t put out any more music.
A Possible Subliminal Instagram Message that Went Left
Then Meg the Stallion’s bestie Kelsey came running to defend her friend and had this to say:
She was extremely upset, and this, along with other subliminal comments she says, was posted by the label caused her to make this video. She felt that her fans deserved to know because this would not only affect her but her fans as well.
But fret not! Meg also made it clear that she will not be backed into a corner. Nor will she be restricted from doing what she loves. Meg said that she’s still going to make music and get this…PUT OUT MUSIC! She’s not here for it, and she’s taking a stand!
If Meg could leave one thing to other aspiring artists, I believe it would be “get you a lawyer and make sure it’s not a lawyer that’s with the label you’re signing with!”
